Lyngdorf CD-2 is a Pure Audio CD player designed, developed and manufactured in Denmark. It delivers the unparalleled performance you would expect from a Lyngdorf Audio product. During its development, we used the experience gained from many of our previously award-winning digital amplifiers and CD players. Lyngdorf CD-2 is one of the best sounding players on the market.

Lyngdorf CD-2 is intended for audio playback only. For this reason, it was possible to “squeeze” the maximum out of it, which is possible, leaving a simple form of construction. All multi-format drives are built on the basis of video designs and equipped with clocks adapted for this purpose. In these devices, the audio output is then resampled (uncontrolled) to the output audio clocks. Many designers choose to optimize the clock on the laser assembly itself, but no matter what you do, the motor control system is disrupted.

The philosophy of Lyngdorf Audio is to obtain an audio signal as pure as possible and to optimize it based on the Lyngdorf Audio precision clock system. Based on previous designs from CD players and fully digital amplifiers, we know what not to do in clock circuits. On the Lyngdorf CD-2 we used the clock from Millennium Mk IV and implemented it for the CD drive. As a result, we achieved an unparalleledly low level of distortion in the audio band.

When music is remastred, the level is often very high. After analysis, you can find several more maximum samples, which may mean that something from the original recording has been truncated. A signal exceeding 0 dBFS (in decibels relative to full scale) will be highly compressed. Unfortunately, this rough sound is often associated with digitally recorded music, unlike vinyl sound. In the Lyngdorf CD-2 we can reduce the gain by 3 dB; which will allow you to enjoy dynamic and more distortion-free sound.

Lyngdorf has designed a switching power supply that is extremely well adjusted with separate filtration for digital and analog circuits. This design ensured quiet operation, high energy supply and low impedance. With four separate circuits powered by four independent transformer secondary windings, analog and digital materials are separated to minimize digital noise in the analog circuit. The grounding is optimal and the entire housing together with the back panel are electrically connected and conductive.

Lyngdorf Audio spends a lot of time and effort designing products that will not radiate interference.

The digital-to-analog converter (also used in the Millennium Mk IV) is used to conduct a high-quality and balanced output signal. The D/A converter is based on Wolfson WM8740 chip. This, combined with our experience in designing balanced and very good audiophile operational amplifiers with outstanding sound qualities, gives the effect ... as you can hear!

Resampling the output of a CD drive with a low-noise clock suppresses the level of output signal fluctuation artifacts to an absolute minimum. Our state-of-the-art sampling frequency converters, using special design techniques and low noise, in Lyngdorf CD-2 systems upsample (oversample) with approximation of the output of the digital drive signal to the selected output frequency. The main advantage of this solution is that you can set the output for the optimal operating point in the D/A converter. The digital output can provide 24-bit resolution at a sampling rate of up to 192 kHz. Analog signal output section after upsampling in a parallel process up to 96 kHz.
