SMART CHARGE 4 LCD is an electronic rectifier for charging 12 and 24 volt acid batteries:

Charging process
The 9-step charging process ensures optimal battery charging conditions. The automatic control system will adjust each of the 9 charging stages to properly charge the battery:
- STEP 1 - Diagnostic - analyzes the battery and checks whether it can accept charging current; prevents charging the damaged battery
- STEP 2 - Recovery charge – low voltage batteries are pre-charged with a small current but with increased voltage; very discharged batteries can be restored to a usable state and this ensures a longer battery life, the stage is skipped if the battery is minimally discharged and in good condition.
- STEP 3 - Soft start (Soft start) – rectifier gradually increases the charging current to reach the set charging current
- STEP 4 - Pulse charge – the battery is charged with pulsed current (pulse fluctuations take place in the DC current range)
- STEP 5 - Reconditioning – preparation stage for bulk charge
- STEP 6 - Bulk charge – constant current charging to the previously set voltage (14.4÷14.7V)
- STEP 7 - Absorption charge – after reaching the required degree of battery charge, there will be a change to constant voltage (CV) charging and the charging process will be completed
- STEP 8 - Evaluation diagnostic - automatic monitoring of battery voltage after charging
- STEP 9 - Maintenance charge – stage supporting the battery (float) and monitoring its condition; resumes charging with reduced current if necessary.
