Sodium percarbonate is a chemical with the formula Na₂H₃CO₆. It is an adduct of sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide. Sodium percarbonate is also referred to as sodium carbonate peroxide.
It is a salt characterized by a moderately strong oxidizer. Its chemical formula is Na2CO3*1,5H2O2, which means it contains sodium, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. It does not occur naturally; it is formed from hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate. When dissolved in water, it breaks down into hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate. This oxidation process allows, among other things, cleaning, whitening, refreshing and stain removal, as well as other related cleansing activities. It effectively kills microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, and algae while removing unpleasant odors. Please note that this may also be a home product and not just a commercial product.
